The Book of Acts: Lesson 10, "The Gentile Pentecost"
In Acts 10, we see the last “day of Pentecost” take place. In Acts 2, the Holy Spirit descended on the Jews. In Acts 8, the Holy Spirit descended on the Samaritans. And finally, in Acts 10, the Holy Spirit descended on the Gentiles. With this, God is affirming that EVERYONE who calls on the name of Jesus will be saved. He is confirming the commission in Acts 1:8 to spread the Gospel to “Jerusalem, Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” It also confirms the Great Commission found in Matthew 28 to “make disciples of all nations.” Gentiles don’t need to become Jews. Rather, whether Gentile or Jew, the key is believing in Jesus. In Acts 16:31, a man asked the apostle Paul how to be saved. Paul’s response was, “Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved.” Faith alone, by Grace alone, in Christ alone!
